Sonys DSC-N1 is one of the first cameras weve seen with a 3" screen (along with Sanyos Xacti E6 on page 32). Its 235,000-pixel resolution is twice that of the vast majority of camera screens, but even more unusual is its touch sensitivity. The ca...

Cyber-shot DSC-N1Touch screens are gradually creeping into our lives; we use them on the underground, at the airport check-in and on handheld devices, so why not extend the technology to digital cameras? The 8-megapixel, 3x zoom, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N1...
Intuitive and large 3in touch-screen LCD with good visibility.
Mixed results in low light (without flash).
Whereas touch screens on previous generations of digital cameras have hampered rather than aided operation, the Cyber-shot DSC-N1 is arguably the best attempt yet, and the huge 3in LCD feels like it will withstand repeated finger stabbing. If there&rsquo...

The Sony DSC N1 offers something different with a large 3" touch controlled LCD screen. Owing to the technology this is an expensive digital camera and in my view the picture quality is good, but does not quite justify the price.

The Sony Cybershot DSC?N1 is an 8.1 megapixel compact digital camera with a Zeiss 3X zoom lens (38?114mm film equivalent). Construction is metal and quality of design and construction is high. There is no optical viewfinder and the 7.5cm LCD is hard t...
Hidden behind the pointless technology of the Sony DSC–N1 is a fine camera. Resolved detail with the 8mp sensor and Zeiss lens is breathtaking. Exposure is always spot on and dynamic range is very good for a compact digital. Colour is generally good...
Reaction to the gimmickry of the DSC–N1 is bound to be personal. Some people will love it. You can even create slideshows in the camera with music (supplied in the camera’s internal memory) which is played back through the tiny inbuilt speaker...
The Sony DSC–N1 will have strong appeal to the gadgetphile, but the serious photographer should compare it carefully with Sony’s excellent DSCW7, a 7.2mp camera with a good optical viewfinder and costing $250 less. The DSCW7 doesn’t let...
